The Epson Tour makes its annual stop in the state of Alabama for the second running of the Guardian Championship at the Capitol Hills location on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trails from September 21-23.

With only three tournaments remaining in the season, it is crunch time for players trying to earn LPGA Tour membership for the 2019 season. The field is very strong in Prattville as the entire top 20 in the Volvik Race for the Card standings is scheduled to compete.

With a $24,000 first-place check, anyone in the top 30 could potentially jump into the top 10. The chase for the ten LPGA cards has reached the final stretch. Number ten on the money list, Stephanie Kono, has a slim $2,908 cushion over No. 11, Eun Jeong Seong.

Want Another Win

Nearly every winner of 2018 is in the field for this week’s Guardian Championship, where 16 of the 18 winners this season will compete. The only winners not in Prattville are Lauren Coughlin and last week’s winner Hyemin Kim. With Kim capturing the Murphy USA El Dorado Shootout at Mystic Creek, we’ve not seen a repeat winner this year. The season has seen thirteen first-time winners: Lauren Kim, Stephanie Meadow, Elizabeth Szokol, Jenny Haglund, Louise Ridderstrom, Maia Schechter, Isa Gabsa, Ruixin Liu, Muni He, Stephanie Kono, Eun Jeong Seong, Coughlin, Marta Sanz Barrio, Linnea Strom, and Allyssa Ferrell.

Danielson Rides Strong Play into Prattville

In only six starts Casey Danielson has five top 10 results. The rookie from Wisconsin currently sits 35th in the Volvik Race for the Cards standing and continues to rise with her solid performances each week.

Danielson has posted 16 rounds at or under-par heading into the Guardian Championship. Of the 16 rounds, 15 are under par where she ranks first on Tour in rounds under par. Danielson also ranks first on Tour in scoring average (69.58) and rounds in the 60s with 11.

Who is playing well?

Dottie Ardina is the obvious choice here after securing her LPGA Tour card for the 2019 season. Before the Arkansas event, she missed the cut in one of the previous five tournaments and posted four top 14 results, two of which were top three finishes. Ruixin Liu who also finished in the top-10 in last week’s event has two additional top 10 finishes this season moving her from No. 11 to No. 6 in the Volvik Race for the Card standings, and a step closer to securing her place on the LPGA Tour next season.
