The Epson Tour concludes its Midwest stretch with the historic 10th playing of the Dream First Bank Charity Classic. This prestigious tournament, held at the Buffalo Dunes Golf Course in Garden City, Kansas, has a rich history of successful past champions. The event is scheduled from June 28-30. The Tournament Boasts an Iconic List of Past Champions

In 10 years of competition, the Dream First Bank Charity Classic has seen an iconic list of past champions. Many have gone on to compete on the LPGA Tour, and some have been ranked the best players in the world. The likes of 2021 and 2023 winners Lilia Vu and Gabriela Ruffels, who are among the most famous of past champions, are competing on the LPGA Tour in 2024. Vu, a five-time LPGA Tour winner, including two major championships, is currently ranked second in the Rolex Women's World Golf Rankings.

Also on the list of past champions is 2022 Epson Tour graduate Gabriella Then. The 28-year-old won the tournament the same year she graduated and spent the 2023 season on the LPGA Tour. Then is in this year’s Dream First Bank Charity Classic field and looks to pick up her second Epson Tour win in Kansas.

A New Sponsor Prompted a Name Change

What was formerly known as the Garden City Charity Classic at Buffalo Dunes is now known as the Dream First Bank Charity Classic. The change came in 2024 after the Dream First Bank joined the Epson Tour as a title sponsor, and the tournament will still be played at Buffalo Dunes Golf Course. Athletes will also still compete in a 54-hole stroke play competition, this time for $237,500 and a winner’s share of $36,625.

One Olympic Qualifier Will Tee it Up

As of the recent announcement, 60 athletes have qualified to compete in the Paris Summer Olympics in July. Seven of these athletes have the unique opportunity to represent both their country and the Epson Tour. One of these exceptional athletes, Ashely Lau of Malaysia, will be competing in Garden City, Kansas this week. She will tee it up at Buffalo Dunes Golf Course for the second time in her career, aiming for her first professional win and 500 points in the Race for the Card. The tournament not only promises fierce competition but also serves as a crucial stepping stone for the 24-year-old's Olympic debut in Paris.

Who Will be the First to Two Wins in 2024?

The chance of becoming the first athlete to get their second win in 2024 is on the line for six players this week. So far, each tournament has seen a different champion, with seven countries represented among those winners. Jessica Peng, Briana Chacon, Madison Young, Cassie Porter, Savannah Vilaubi and Soo Bin Joo will tee it up at Buffalo Dunes Golf Course looking for a second win and another 500 points in the Race for the Card.

This Week Marks the End of the Midwest Stretch

Four events and three states later, the Epson Tour is finishing its Midwest stretch. Athletes traveled from Michigan to Indiana, back to Michigan, and finally to Kansas for the Dream First Bank Charity Classic. So far, the Midwest stretch has seen three different champions from three different countries, as well as low scores and even some weather delays. After the Dream First Bank Charity Classic, the Tour will have a week off before heading to the Northeast for two events: the Hartford HealthCare Women’s Championship in Milford, Connecticut, and the Twin Bridges Championship in Albany, New York.
