The First of Three Events With a 108-player Field

The Tuscaloosa Toyota Classic is the first of the last three events where the field size has been reduced to an exclusive 108 players. This change in the field has also brought a shift in the player selection process, with players now being sorted based on the points list, not the priority list like it was earlier in the season. Everyone ranked inside the top 15 in the Race for the Card is competing this week, adding to the exclusivity of the event as they chase down their LPGA Tour card for 2025.

Six Former Crimson Tide Competing

This week, the Ol' Colony Golf Course will witness a heartwarming reunion as six Alabama Crimson Tide alumnae return to their alma mater. Lakareber Abe, Sarah Edwards, Angelica Moresco, Benedetta Moresco, Lauren Stephenson, and Kenzie Wright will all return to Tuscaloosa for the week. Their return not only adds a nostalgic touch to the event but also brings with it a sense of pride, as several players received honors while competing at the University, with Abe, B. Moresco, Stephenson and Wright all earning All-American honors during their time in the program.

All Four New LPGA Tour Members for 2025 Will Be Competing

Yahui Zhang, Lauren Stephenson, Fatima Fernandez Cano, and Jessica Porvasnik all mathematically clinched their LPGA Tour cards for the 2025 season after their performances at the Guardian Championship. Even though the four athletes have earned their cards for next season, they will still be competing for a spot in the top 10 in the rankings and the full-time status that comes along with it. Who Will Be the First to Two Wins in 2024?

A unique opportunity lies ahead for 15 athletes this week, and that's the chance to become the first athlete to win for a second time in 2024. Each tournament leading up to the Tuscaloosa Toyota Classic has seen a different champion; nine countries have been represented among those winners.
