Just a year ago, Benedetta Moresco was on the bag for her sister Angelica Moresco as she competed in the Guardian Championship during her rookie season on the Epson Tour.

Benedetta had just finished competing in Pre-Qualifying at the 2023 LPGA Qualifying Series a few weeks prior and was getting a small taste of life on the Epson Tour. As her caddie, she helped her sister put together three under-par rounds, finishing the week at 9-under and in a tie for 18th.

Since the 2023 Guardian Championship, Benedetta finished T26 at the Final Qualifying portion of LPGA Q-Series after her final season at the University of Alabama, earning LPGA Tour and Epson Tour status for the 2024 season. Benedetta has split time between both Tours during her rookie season, finishing in a tie for 19th at the CPKC Women’s Open on the LPGA Tour and making seven cuts in nine starts during her time on the Epson Tour.

Now, paired with her sister for the first two rounds, Benedetta leads the way after 18 holes of play at the Guardian Championship, where she was looping just a year ago. The first round consisted of a remarkable nine birdies and two bogeys en route to a 7-under 65.

“Being familiar with the course helps a lot, in my opinion,” explained Benedetta. “I didn't play last year, but caddying for Angie kind of made me realize all the good spots to miss and stuff like that. I felt comfortable out there the whole day and in the practice round. So last year helped a lot.”

Benedetta Moresco will look to extend her lead when she tees off in the second round at 1:19 PM CT with her sister walking the fairways alongside her.
