The life of a professional athlete means that some holidays and important events will inevitably be missed. But Rachel Rohanna is determined to balance family time and professional golf and is logging serious airline miles to make it happen.

The 33-year-old mother of two has had quite the stretch of events lately, playing three consecutive Epson Tour tournaments out west and a U.S. Women’s Open qualifier. Unlike most athletes who often remain in the same time zone throughout a lengthy run of events, Rohanna has crossed the country numerous times to coach T-ball, qualify for her fourth U.S. Women’s Open and now celebrate Mother’s Day. Despite always wanting to play weekend golf, a missed cut at the Carlisle Arizona Women’s Golf Classic stings a little less when it means spending Mother’s Day with her kids.

“It was going to be a 10- or 11-day stretch on the road, and I didn't want to miss this Mother's Day with Greenlee, my first Mother's Day with her, and obviously with my mom, my mother-in-law, as well,” said Rohanna. “So, it was kind of an easy decision. The flight back to Utah actually wasn't too expensive, so when I saw that, I was like, you know what? I'm going to do this.

“There’s nothing like a little recovery from a bad week and being with your kids, so I figured I'd just hop on a plane and get over here.”

The support Rohanna receives as a mom has been evident on her social media, showing that it takes a village to balance professional golf and have a family.

“We're making it work. The little one is having some milestones while I'm gone. The older one is, too. She's about ready to lose a tooth,” said Rohanna. “But the younger one started crawling yesterday, so I'm like, oh, man, you know, just missing that. It's hard, but we're trying to make everything work, and we've got a great support system.”
