It was a monumental moment when Justin Rose won the gold medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics. A week later, Inbee Park became only the second woman ever to earn a gold medal, beating out Lydia Ko and Shanshan Feng, who took home the silver and bronze medals, respectively.

Among the five Olympic medalists, Nelly Korda clinched the gold in 2020, while Mone Inami secured the silver at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Lydia Ko, a seasoned player, added to her medal tally with a third-place finish. Now, a fresh wave of talent from the Epson Tour is ready to make their mark, with seven members competing for a spot on the podium among a field of 60 players.

The seven members, each with their unique journey, now have an opportunity to compete at Le Golf National in world ranking order. They include Diksha Dagar, Mariajo Uribe, Ashley Lau, Ana Belac, Alena Sharp, Dottie Ardina and Dewi Weber.

The big question is whether they will be able to win the medal in Paris. The answer is a resounding yes, and there is proof behind it as well. During the 2020 Olympics, two players entered ranked in the 100s in the Rolex Women’s Golf Rankings and ended up finishing in the top 10, showing the potential of our athletes.

Diksha Dagar of India and Mariajo Uribe of Colombia are both in the 100s in the Rolex Women’s Golf Rankings and have their eyes set on the podium. However, they are not the only Epson Tour members who have a chance in Paris. Alena Sharp will be making her third appearance in the Olympics representing team Canada and has proven she can compete with the best players in the world over her 19-year career.

With a limited field size of only 60 players, the competition at Le Golf National promises to be intense. The event, scheduled for early August, is already generating buzz among the players. For instance, Ashley Lau, who is currently competing at the Dream First Bank Charity Classic, is eagerly preparing for her first Olympic Games where she will represent Malaysia.
