Atlantic Beach Country Club is living up to its reputation and is making the field battle for every inch on the course. After 36 holes, only one player sits under-par and every player who was under-par in round one shot over-par in round two. Laetitia Beck has navigated the tricky layout the best, posting rounds of even-par and 3-under to hold a three-shot lead heading into Championship Saturday.

Beck has yet to make a score higher than a bogey in her two days at Atlantic Beach Country Club and has only dropped an astounding three shots. The veteran got off to as quick as a start as you can this week, making a birdie on the par-4 2nd and an eagle on the sixth hole, a 497-yard par-five. Beck sat at 3-under through six holes, but it did not last long, dropping a shot on the seventh hole. The next two holes resulted in two pars, making the turn with a 2-under 34.

The back nine showed the patience that is needed to navigate this course in these conditions, making eight pars and one birdie. The 3-under round was one of the better scores of the day, with only two players turning in scores better. Beck will enter the final round with a three-shot lead and in search of her first Epson Tour victory after several close calls over her 10-year career.

“Today was much easier with the wind. I had a lot of birdie, short birdie chances, and I just kept it. It felt easy hitting the greens, hitting the fairways. I think I missed two greens, so when you do that, you have a lot of putts for birdies,” said Beck after Round Two. “Winning will help me feel better about how hard I'm working, but I'm not thinking about it right now. I just want to go and enjoy, play good golf, hit greens, fairways, a little more stress-free round than the past, and then we'll see what happens.”

Looking to make it a come-from-behind victory for two weeks in a row is a group of three players who all are at even-par for the week. Of the group, only Dana Fall has made it into the winner’s circle on Tour, winning the 2016 Dream First Bank Charity Classic. Fall will be paired with Beck, setting up for an exciting finish at the second annual Atlantic Beach Classic presented by Access Golf.
