After round one at the Atlantic Beach Classic presented by Access Golf, there were only two players under-par, and then that number was split in half after 36-holes. Entering Championship Saturday, Laetitia Beck was the lone under-par athlete at Atlantic Beach Country Club after difficult conditions over the first two days of play.

Beck is in her 11th season as a professional, spending time on the LPGA and Epson Tours, but was still in search of her first victory on either Tour. A new confidence was evident, taking on different conditions each day and excelling in all of them. The first round, she needed to grind out pars and even bogeys. The second round was cold but more scorable than the first, and she took advantage, posting one of the better rounds of the day to take the lead. Then, in the final round, when everyone started to go low, Beck did the same, posting a bogey-free 5-under 66 to become an Epson Tour Champion at the Atlantic Beach Classic presented by Access Golf.

The 33-year-old held the lead by herself all day, extending her lead with three straight birdies on holes five, six, and seven. There are high scores waiting around every corner at Atlantic Beach Country Club, so patience is key. Beck navigated some of the most difficult holes on the course flawlessly, playing the toughest hole on the course, hole 16, without dropping a shot all week.

Beck added two more birdies on the back nine to keep away a surging Sophia Schubert who tied the 18-hole scoring record, turning in an 8-under 63. The last two holes were stress free for Beck, rolling in two short par putts on her way to the winner’s circle.

“I still tried to not think too much ahead,” said Beck after her final round. “It does show that I am capable of playing well. Often, I go to an event unsure and not so confident with my game, and I always have to try to figure out something. So the good thing is that I'm a feel player. Even though I'm technical, I'm still a feel, and I'm able to find a feel that works for that week. So, I'm hoping that by winning this week, it will help me stay more calm under pressure.”

The win moves Beck into the top spot in the Race for the Card, starting her season with a T3 result and a victory. She will look to cap off her impressive Florida Swing with another strong performance to extend her lead in the Race for the Card as she hunts down her LPGA Tour card once again.
