TOURNAMENT UPDATE

Round One of the Atlantic Beach Classic presented by Access Golf was suspended due to darkness at 6:25 p.m. local time. Round Two will begin at its normal starting time of 7:30 a.m. local time with a cut to be made to the top 60 and ties at the conclusion of the round.

The leaders in the clubhouse as play was suspended were Riley Smyth and Bi Shin, who carded a 1-under round in some of the most difficult conditions the Tour has seen over the last couple of seasons. Gusts of wind blowing over 30 mph resulted in just those two athletes finishing under par for 18 holes. The next closest to Smyth in the clubhouse were Laetitia Beck and Yurika Tanida, who finished round one even par.

Yana Wilson currently has the best round still on the course at 2-under, with Wilson having three holes remaining. Wilson also had one of the shots of the day, making an ace on the par-three third hole from 163 yards. Follow along for live scoring here.

“I mean, it was playing so tough out there today so just really trying to stay patient in the wind and you know, just put together a good solid round. I knew anything under par or around par was going to be a really good score to start this week, so it feels good to get that in.”

“I kind of just stayed patient, just trying to play safe. You know, play smart and not do anything like too, too special. You can't always go for the pin with this wind, and you kind of just have to play where it's safe or where you think you're going to have a good up and down.”
